As a PhD student within the food related sciences at a Danish University you are encouraged to join the Research School FOOD Denmark.
FOOD is multidisciplinary and gathers the PhD education within the food environments at DTU, AU, SDU, AAU and KU in LMC. One of FOOD´s objectives is to give the PhD students a research education of high international standard with focus on the quality of the PhD study, on the PhD students’ personal and professional development. International guest teachers are invited by FOOD and the interaction between the research environments of the public research institutions and in the industry is in focus upon initiation of attractive workshops and courses.
FOOD Denmark offers PhD students the following:
- Scientific courses and workshops within the food, nutrition, technology and consumer sciences
- Generic courses (i.e., oral presentation techniques, networking, poster presentations)
- The annual FOOD Denmark PhD Congress
- Website and newsletter
- An alumni forum (under establishment, 2012)

Member fee
FOOD charges an annual fee, which will be used for expenses such as courses and guest teachers. The fee is decided by the LMC Board based upon a recommendation by the LMC Coordination Committee, and is charged every February. From 2012 the fee is DKK 3,000. This fee will grant free access to FOOD Flex 3 and the FOOD Denmark PhD Congress. There may be a small participant fee for other courses arranged by FOOD Denmark.
